Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera, fam. Solanaceae) is commonly known as “Indian Winter cherry” or “Indian Ginseng”. It is one of the most important herbs of Ayurveda (the traditional system of medicine in India) used for millennia as a Rasayana for its wide-ranging health benefits. Rasayana is described as an herbal or metallic preparation that promotes a youthful state of physical and mental health and expands happiness. Among the ayurvedic Rasayana herbs, Ashwagandha holds the most prominent place. It is known as “Sattvic Kapha Rasayana” Herb.

Ashwagandha Benefits - Ashwagandha is traditionally used in Ayurveda as Rasayana (Rejuvenative tonic) to relieve general debility, especially during convalescence or old age. Traditionally used in herbal medicine as a Restful-Restful-Sleep aid and for memory Improvement. According to its traditional use in Ayurveda, Ashwagandha Assists to balance aggravated Vata (nervine). In Herbal Medicines, Ashwagandha is used as an adaptogen to Assist increase energy and resistance to stress.

Ashwagandha is commonly available as a churna or Powder, a finely sieved powder that can be mixed with water, ghee (clarified butter), or honey or capsules.

How to use
