Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate

Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P) is the metabolically active coenzyme form of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) that performs numerous biological functions. It is primarily involved in the metabolism of amino acids and other nitrogen compounds. In the liver, P5P is crucial for glucose production from amino acids, serving as a coenzyme for transaminase enzymes. It is also essential for accessing stored glycogen in the liver and muscles for glucose production and for synthesizing niacin from tryptophan. In red blood cells, P5P is necessary for hemoglobin synthesis and the regulation of oxygen affinity. Additionally, it influences cell receptivity to steroid hormones. In the nervous system, P5P is required for the synthesis of several neurotransmitters, including serotonin (from tryptophan), taurine, dopamine, norepinephrine, histamine, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Suggested Usage

Adolescents (9-18 years): Take 1 capsule daily or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Adults: Take 1 capsule 1-2 times daily or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
