Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), the sole lipid-soluble antioxidant synthesized endogenously, serves established roles as a free radical scavenger in mitochondrial and lipid membranes. It acts as an essential electron carrier in cellular respiration, contributing to ATP production, and has recently been identified as an influencer of gene expression.

Given CoQ10's pivotal role in mitochondrial function and cellular antioxidant defense, its clinical applications are broad. Dosage

Recommended Adult Dose: 1 softgel 1–3 times per day or as directed by a health Wellness-Care practitioner.

Drug Interactions

Although existing evidence has not found an interaction, CoQ10 resembles vitamin K structurally, potentially interfering with the anticoagulant warfarin. Close monitoring of the INR is recommended with CoQ10 introduction in these patients. No other negative drug interactions are known for CoQ10, though a number of Health Products are thought to interfere with CoQ10 synthesis or function in the body, including statin Health Products, tricyclic antidepressants and oral hypoglycemic agents.
