Whole blanched almonds are ground into a fine meal that lends a nutty flavor and moist texture to baked goods. Baking with almond flour is simple. As a general rule of thumb, you can also replace 25% of the all-purpose flour in your baking recipes with almond flour to add a wonderful texture and flavor while reducing the total carbohydrates.
Almonds are known for being nutritious and satisfying, providing vitamin E, protein, fiber and monounsaturated fats. Not only do almonds offer protein, healthy fats and fiber, they are also very low in carbohydrates and inherently gluten free. Suggested Use
Not only is almond flour a traditional choice for delicacies like French macarons and financiers, but this nutty meal can be used in savoury applications, as well. Use it as a low-carb flour alternative in place of bread crumbs in meatballs, or as a coating for chicken and fish. To keep it at peak freshness, almond flour and meal are best stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
You can snack on them by the handful, or throw them into your food processor and press a button: voila, you’ll have ground almonds—and then fresh almond butter, if you keep going!
Magically Moist Almond Cake
3/4 cup Unsalted Butter
1 cup Sugar
4 Eggs
1/2 cup Milk
1 Tsp Vanilla
1½ cups Bob's Red Mill Almond Flour
½ cup Organic Coconut Flour
14 tsp Salt
2 tsp Baking Powder
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13-inch cake pan. Cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Add in eggs, one at a time, and beat until fully blended. Add milk and vanilla; mix until combined. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Beat until creamy. Spread batter in prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes. Serve with fresh fruit or whipped cream.
