Cacao nibs are cacao beans that have been cracked, fermented and broken into smaller pieces.

Cacao, or theobroma cacao, is the source of natural chocolate. It comes from the seeds of the fruit of the cacao tree, which has been prized throughout history. The use of cacao for wellness purposes dates back at least 3,000 years. The indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica have enjoyed cacao. It’s been cultivated throughout Mexico, Central America and South America since the Early Formative Period and was used as a food, and even currency. In fact, cacao was so highly valued that ancient native people celebrated it in a variety of ways.
